The young man was charged with petty hooliganism (part 1 of article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). His relatives consider the case fabricated and link the persecution with refusal to serve in the military. Juraev planned to do alternative civilian service (ACS), but he was detained and forcibly taken to the military registration and enlistment office.

The young man is serving his sentence in a special detention center in Sakharov.
