Prigozhin asked SK to initiate a business against Beglov

The founder of the Wagner PMC Evgeny Prigozhin turned to the head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin with a request to institute criminal proceedings against Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov. The corresponding letter was published by the press service of Prigozhin.

What is said in the letter:

• Prigozhin accused Beglov of the destruction or damage of cultural heritage objects (Article 243 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The punishment under this article provides for up to six years in prison.
• The founder of the Wagner PMC stated that in St. Petersburg there are more than 850 objects of cultural heritage in "destructive and abandoned condition."
• According to Prigozhin, “prolonged inaction and rejection of measures to preserve objects of cultural heritage” by Smolny and Beglov “leads to irreparable loss of cultural heritage and violation of the current legislation”.
• Prigozhin also stated that he himself was faced with the “opposition” of the government and the governor of St. Petersburg, when he tried to preserve the object of the cultural heritage of Trazini. However, according to the founder of the Wagner PMC, the mansion was “adapted for modern use to the hotel”.

Alexander Beglov has not yet commented on Prigozhin's letter.

In March 2023, the inhabitants of St. Petersburg were called for a rally against Alexandra Beglov in Viber and telegram channels allegedly related to Prigozhin.

The conflict between the founder of Wagner and the Governor of St. Petersburg could begin after a criminal case against Alexei Barabanshchikov, who headed the Social Power of St. Petersburg, was opened in the city. According to Rotonta, drummers are associated with Evgeny Prigozhin.
