The proposal to increase the deadline for the "treason" to the lifelong one must be perceived more positively if you choose between the bad and terrible

The proposals of the deputy Vasily Piskarev to increase the maximum period of imprisonment for state treason to life - the news, oddly enough, is rather positive (well, if you choose between bad and terrible). Piskarev “with colleagues”, as he wrote about this initiative in his telegram on April 7, suggest increasing the minimum and maximum terms for other crimes (terrorist attack, sabotage and derivatives from them) for about 5 years, but in a situation where no one knows what will happen in a month, this is not so significant.

The bill No. 232768-8 was submitted by the State Construction Duma Committee, adopted in the first reading on December 6, a month was established to submit the amendments, so that colleagues from the Committee of the Duma on Security with their proposals were pretty late.

Project No. 232768-8 applies only to the addition of the compositions of the attack and sabotage by indicating the possibility of their “by infecting agricultural animals and plants, to make food and raw material resources.” This is a technical question rather, which significantly expanding it, the “amendments of Piskarev”, in theory, would require the return of the project to the first reading. However, on the Duma website for project No. 232768-8 there are not them, so most likely it is just a chatter.

Which, indeed, is important: in the Duma there are no official offers to cancel the moratorium on the death penalty, although after the attack in St. Petersburg, a number of government agencies again shot such an initiative in television talk shows. This is the same self -patient as Piskarev’s proposal: the only statesman who could approve this initiative while refraining the line.

In the death penalty, there are a lot of symbols and even mysticism. This category is not only legal, but in some way and historical. From this point of view, murder during hostilities and even hopeless executions are not the same as the execution of the court sentence, that is, on behalf of the state.

Vladimir Putin probably does not want to remain in history as the head of the country, in which the death penalty was also returned.

This indirectly indicates that the Kremlin analysts consider his position, including on the eve of the presidential election, strong enough to allow such a wide opportunity to criticize on the right. So far, Putin does not need to use the extreme form of populism, however, to play this card for long and it is never too late.
