A Crimean Tatar woman, traveling from Kyiv to her homeland to join her family, was held in the TsVSIG and special detention center for 4 months

Crimean Tatar, citizen of Ukraine Lenia Umerova has been held in captivity for more than four months - she spent about three months in the temporary detention center for foreign citizens of North Ossetia, after which she was sentenced three times to 15 days of administrative arrest. This is reported by "Grati" and "Krym.Realii" .

25-year-old Umerova is a native of Crimea; she moved to Kyiv in 2015 after the Russian invasion of the republic, they write "Grati". The girl did not receive a Russian passport, said her brother, Aziz Umerov, in an interview with Krym.Realii.

In December 2022, Umerova left Kyiv for Crimea: she wanted to visit her father, who was diagnosed with cancer. After a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the road through the Kherson region and the administrative border became unsafe, Grati notes, so the girl went home along a different route: through Bulgaria, Romania, the border of Georgia with Russia, and then to the peninsula. To do this, she had to pass the Upper Lars checkpoint in North Ossetia.

On the night of December 3-4, when Umerova was traveling by bus "Tbilisi-Simferopol", she was detained "for additional checks and conversations." After that, the security forces took her to the police station in Vladikavkaz, and then said that they would talk to her again in the morning; after the girl was sent to the Owl Hotel, which is located outside the city.

Umerova went there by taxi, but on the way the car was stopped by the traffic police. After checking the documents, they stated that the girl, being a foreign citizen, violated the regime of stay in the zone with regulated visits for foreign citizens without special permission, the journalists of "Grati" specified in an interview with OVD-Info. The inspectorate was not satisfied that she did not move along the federal highway, but along country streets.

However, Umerova did not know where and on what road the taxi driver was taking her, she was not aware of such restrictions for foreign citizens. As a result, an administrative report was drawn up against the girl under the article on violation of the rules for crossing the state border of the Russian Federation (part 1 of article 18.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). On December 4, the Prigorodny District Court of North Ossetia fined her two thousand rubles and ordered her to be expelled from the country.

After that, the girl was placed in the Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Citizens (TsVSIG). Umerova's parents arrived in Vladikavkaz: they found a lawyer who appealed the court's decision to the Supreme Court of the Republic and the Fifth Court of Cassation. About three months - until March 13 - Umerova was in (TsVSIG). On that day, the cassation considered the complaint of the lawyer and canceled the expulsion of the girl, so she had to be released from the center.

“The court separately noted that, judging by the materials of the case, Umerova does not pose a danger to the country. But at the exit from the court, unknown people were waiting for Lenya, who put a bag over her head, put her in a car and brought her to an unfamiliar district of Vladikavkaz, ”Grati writes.

She was then thrown out of the car; the police officers who arrived at that moment demanded to go with them to the department. The girl tried to find out why she was being detained again, but the security forces took this as disobedience to the police officers (Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) and drew up an administrative protocol against her.

On March 14, the birthday of Umerova, who turned 25, the Leninsky District Court of Vladikavkaz arrested her for 15 days. While serving the administrative arrest, another similar protocol was drawn up against the girl under the same article. She was again arrested for 15 days. “Allegedly, she didn’t give up the phone after the conversation, we are only given a few minutes to talk with her,” Umerova’s father told Grati the version of the police, in which he does not believe.

On April 11, the second administrative arrest of the girl ended, but two days before that, a third protocol was drawn up against her under the article on disobedience to the security forces. Then the Soviet District Court of Vladikavkaz again arrested her for 15 days.

"Grati" reports that Umerova's parents have been living in North Ossetia for about two months now, waiting for their daughter's release. They told reporters that the last report on the girl was drawn up because she allegedly did not get out of the car.

“We have been here for three courts and support her, otherwise it will be very difficult for her daughter. She again remained in isolation. Before that, she held on, but today burst into tears. They break it, I don’t know why,” Umerova’s father told the publication.

The girl’s brother noted in an interview with Krym.Realii that “the only ‘crime’ she committed was not getting a Russian passport, being a native of Crimea.”
