Roskomnadzor through the court demanded to deprive the license of the Nizhny Novgorod publication KozaPress, the founder of which was the journalist Irina Slavina, who committed suicide due to pressure from the security forces. This was reported by the journalists of the publication.

As follows from the statement of claim, the reason for the requirement to revoke the license was that the website and social networks of the publication had not been updated for more than a year.

The last post on the KozaPress website was made at the beginning of February 2021, and on the telegram channel the last post was dated February 24, 2022, in which journalists condemn the war in Ukraine.

“Regardless of the presence or absence of a media registration certificate, “Goat” has been and will remain a media resource. This is the very moment when a piece of paper is not a determining factor. You can have the status of a media, but at the same time be just a platform for placing press releases, or you can not have the status of the media and at the same time be a full-fledged information channel, ”the post on the telegram channel of the publication says.

Irina Slavina set herself on fire on October 2, 2020 near the building of the Nizhny Novgorod Ministry of Internal Affairs. On her Facebook page, she wrote that she asked to blame the Russian Federation for her death. On the eve of the suicide, Slavina's house was searched as part of a criminal case on "fake news" in the media. Slavina's family explained her act by constant pressure on her from the security forces.
