“Talk about such topics in the kitchen”: a Muscovite was fined under the article of “discrediting” the army after she argued with a cafe visitor about the war in Ukraine

A resident of Moscow, who asked not to be named, was fined 30 thousand rubles under the article on “discrediting” the Russian army (20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). This happened on April 5, writes "OVD-Info". A week earlier, a woman was taken to the police station after she made a remark to a man in a coffee shop - he loudly called Ukrainians "faggots" and justified the war.

According to the Muscovite, on Thursday at the end of March, she went to her favorite coffee shop. There, she heard one of the visitors talking loudly about the war in Ukraine, including saying that Ukrainians “need to be driven out.” The woman remarked to him: “What kind of faggots are they, if many of us have relatives and friends living in Ukraine. In addition, he is in a public place where such statements are inappropriate, ”she told OVD-Info.

The visitor to the cafe continued to speak loudly and say: “We will smear all [Ukrainians].” The woman answered him that "methods when they first do it and then figure it out, to put it mildly, are unacceptable and cannot be justified." This phrase of hers got on the video, which was filmed by a man. He called the police and, while waiting, threatened the woman to “wrap her hands.”

Then he showed the filmed video to the arrived operatives. They replied that the phrase of the woman who got on the video was taken out of context, but still asked her to drive to the department. The Muscovite spent about two hours there. “The policemen were found to be extremely adequate. No force was used, no questions were tormented. Moreover, they even told me: “Talk about such topics in the kitchen. There is no need to discuss this in public places now,” she recalls.

The police studied the woman's social networks and did not find anything there. Then the very visitor of the cafe with whom the detainee argued came to the department. He showed the security forces her post on Instagram, where she condemned the mobilization. “The police got hooked on him [post on Instagram]. They wrote out a protocol on “discrediting” the Russian army, ”said the Muscovite. “The situation feels surreal. … Of course, I don’t go to my favorite coffee shop anymore, ”she summed up.

At the end of March, Yury Samoilov was detained in Moscow, about whom a metro passenger complained to the police. According to the scammer, he accidentally saw a screensaver on Samoilov's phone with the Azov chevron. As a result, the Muscovite was convicted under the article on the distribution of extremist materials (20.29 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) and arrested for 14 days.
