In Moscow, conscripts are searched using video surveillance systems

In Moscow, a video surveillance system is used to determine the place of residence of conscripts. This was reported to TASS by the capital's military commissar, Colonel Maxim Loktev.

“To determine the place of residence of the conscript, video surveillance systems in the city of Moscow are used, at the direction of the Mayor of Moscow, organizations in which conscripts work provide information about them to the military commissariats. Educational organizations help us determine where the conscript is studying,” Loktev said.

According to him, the main reason for non-appearance at the military registration and enlistment office is that the conscript fails to hand over the summons, since he does not live at the place of registration. At the same time, Loktev stressed that the city hall, as well as the main department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Moscow, are now paying great attention to this issue.

Spring conscription began in Russia on April 1. According to the presidential decree, 147,000 people should be called up for military service.

On April 17, it became known that the first electronic subpoenas would be sent out already during this call. As Loktev explained, alerts will be sent to conscripts "in test mode" through "Gosuslugi" and by SMS.

Earlier, Andrei Kartapolov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense, said that the amendments to the law "On military duty and military service" on electronic summonses for the spring draft would not apply.

The State Duma adopted a bill that equates electronic summonses to paper ones in the second and third readings on April 11. The document was approved by the Federation Council, then signed by Vladimir Putin. According to the amendments, a person liable for military service becomes restricted to travel abroad from the moment he receives notification of a summons sent to him.
