FSB officers came to check the Moscow departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs due to the breach of data of security forces on the darknet

FSB officers came to check the police department for the Central District of Moscow and “virtually all” police departments in the district due to the participation of police officers in breaking into the darknet. This was reported by Baza , RBC and TASS , citing sources.

According to interlocutors of TASS and Baza , the department believes that the police officers involved in the breach “regularly” provided clients, among whom were unnamed citizens of Ukraine, with data from closed databases about security forces, judges and other people.

RBC also writes about a leak of data from security forces, but, according to their version, “unknown persons could have obtained other people’s passwords to enter information systems from where the data they needed was downloaded.”

Baza claims that the investigation into the leak began several weeks earlier. “Three officers have already been detained at the Tagansky district department, and several more at the Arbat police department,” the publication claims. According to him, the deputy head of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the Central Administrative District, Alexei Shchipov, and the head of the Arbat department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, subsequently wrote letters of resignation.

The last position, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs website , since 2022 . was held by Alexander Koshelev

After the FSB began checking, as writes Baza , “on the darknet they practically stopped accepting orders to break people through the Ministry of Internal Affairs databases. And accounts of people who were involved in this disappear en masse from Telegram.”
