In the new version of the textbook “The World” for the fourth grade of the Enlightenment publishing house, several references to Kiev in paragraphs regarding the history of Kievan Rus.

Mediazona got acquainted with several pages of the edited textbook and compared them to the version of 2021. For example, if in the old publication it was said that the chronicle of the Two of Bygone Years was written by the monk of the Kiev Pechersky Monastery Nestor, then in the new version Nestor was simply called a monk, without clarifying the place where he lived and worked.

Another change: in the old version it was said that Prince Vladimir baptized the whole people in Kyiv, in the new one - "in the capital." Another one: it was “after the death of Oleg in Kyiv, Prince Igor began to rule”, and it became, “after the death of Oleg, Prince Igor began to rule.”

In addition, a date has changed in the Russian history textbook for the sixth grade, which is considered the moment of the founding of Rus' as a state.

The 2016 edition says: "882 when Oleg united Novgorod and Kiev, many historians call the conditional date of education of the Old Russian state." The editorial office of 2023 says: “Gradually, the dynasty of the princes, who erected their family to Rurik, gained the greatest importance. With his vocation in 862, the formation of the state of Rus' is associated in Novgorod. ”

The new version of the textbook “The World” has not yet been on sale - it has only been sent to print so far. In addition to the new edition of the textbook, methodological materials are prepared for release, which specify the role of Kyiv in the history of Russia. According to the interlocutor of Mediazons in the publishing house "Education", these materials will go to schools by the end of spring and will be used in the next school year.

In April 2022, Mediazona wrote that the publishing house "Education" is preparing new editions of the textbooks.

“Once we mention that Kievan Rus was formed, and then we just call it Rus', there is no more Kievan Rus. And Kyiv is its capital, ”said one of the employees of the“ Enlightenment ”. - No matter how strange it may sound, ideally [necessary] replace the line that "Vladimir baptized Kyiv" to the words that he "baptized the capital". "

Subsequently, Vladimir Medinsky, assistant to the president and former Minister of Culture, confirmed that uniform history textbooks will appear in Russia, written "taking into account the historical events that occurred this year."

“This is the beginning of a special military operation, and the entry into the Russian Federation of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, the Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions, and unprecedented sanctions pressure.
