The Office of the Investigative Committee for the Nevsky District of St. Petersburg opened a criminal case after checking information about the death of the wards of psychoneurological boarding school No. 10. The department itself reports this .

According to the Investigative Committee, employees of the boarding school have allowed six of its residents to die since 2022 “due to improper performance of their professional duties” (Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code).

The day before, on April 19, the founder of the Vera Hospice Fund, Nyuta Federmesser, spoke about the deaths “recently” of seven of the institution’s wards. According to her, the boarding school is understaffed, and the children there are malnourished. After Federmesser’s appeal, the St. Petersburg prosecutor’s office began an inspection of the institution.
