Omsk residents who tried to commit suicide after being detained at an anti-war rally in Moscow were asked to receive 8 and 11 years in prison

During the debate in the 2nd Western District Military Court, the prosecutor requested 11 and 8 years in prison for Omsk residents Anton Zhuchkov and Vladimir Sergeev, who were detained in March last year at an anti-war rally. This was reported by Sota .

As journalists noted, the state prosecution asked to keep Zhuchkov and Sergeev in prison for the first three years, and to send them to a maximum security colony for the remaining eight and five years.

Friends from Omsk are accused of preparing to commit a terrorist act by prior conspiracy (part 1 of article 30; paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code). In addition, Zhuchkov is charged with illegal production or sale or transfer of drugs in a significant amount (clause “b” of part 3 of article 228.1 of the Criminal Code).

Zhuchkov and Sergeev were detained in the center of Moscow on Bolshaya Bronnaya on March 6. Then they were stopped by security forces and asked to show the contents of the backpack of one of them. During communication with the police, both Omsk residents took capsules with methadone. As a result, Molotov cocktails were found on them.

“You sit down, you freaks. You will sit like roosters on the bottle, whore. Creatures, I promise you, you will sit on bubbles, you fucking roosters,” a policeman with the shoulder straps of a lieutenant colonel told the detainees in response to their words about their intention to “set fire to a couple of your flea carriers.”

While the men were being taken to a police station in the Tverskoy district, Zhuchkov became ill and lost consciousness. Sergeev fainted after the medical examination. Both were hospitalized at the Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Medicine, where doctors diagnosed them with methadone poisoning. Sergeev was also diagnosed with a coma and a traumatic brain injury.

10 days after being discharged from the hospital, the detainees were charged under the article of attempted hooliganism by a group of persons using weapons (part 1 of article 30, part 2 of article 213 of the Criminal Code).

During the interrogation, when asked by the investigator how Sergeev could convey the essence of his protest if he was trying to commit suicide, the Omsk resident replied: “The essence of my action would be clear regardless of whether I remained alive or not. I was at an anti-war rally and protested against it.”

Zhuchkov insisted that he did not intend to set fire to police cars, but was only planning to commit suicide. According to him, he took methadone because he did not want to see what was happening in the world.

On March 17, a certificate from the FSB appeared in the case, where the friends are characterized as “convinced supporters of radical anarchist ideology,” which aims to “violently change the foundations of the constitutional system” of Russia. Based on this document, their case was reclassified as preparation for a terrorist attack.
