One of the closest associates of Alexei Navalny, Lyubov Sobol, said that structures associated with the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin spent more than 11.5 million rubles on spying on her and her family. This is stated in the investigation of the French publication Paris Match, whose journalists in the fall of 2022 received access from hackers to the internal documents of Prigozhin’s companies.
As Sobol herself writes, she was followed for several months, and the project itself in the documents was called simply by her last name - “the Sobol project”.
“According to the documents, the stringers were supposed to follow me around the clock, “taking photos or videos in accordance with the special mission,” Sobol tweeted.
According to her, surveillance continued from at least March to November 2019. In some months, two or three people followed her, in others - up to nine. For each shift, the hired stringers, according to Sobol, were paid five thousand rubles.
“So, for example, in April 2019, 1.45 million rubles were spent on nine stringers,” Sobol noted.
Surveillance was supervised by Igor Mangushev. He became widely known in the summer of 2022, when a video of his performance at a club in occupied Donetsk was circulated online. He went on stage holding a human skull in his hands, which, according to him, belonged to one of the defenders of Azovstal in Mariupol. In addition, Mangushev repeatedly called for the genocide of Ukrainians.
On February 5, it became known that Mangushev was hospitalized in one of the hospitals of the annexed LPR with a gunshot wound. Someone shot him in the back of the head at close range. According to his wife, Tatyana Azarevich, the nature of her husband's injury indicates that he was probably executed.
