The Kansk city court sentenced 35-year-old English teacher Andrei S. (name changed) to two years and 10 days in prison for firing a hunting rifle at a billboard advertising military service under a contract. This is reported by the local publication Prospekt Mira, referring to the lawyer of the convict Vladimir Vasin.
According to him, Andrei was found guilty of hooliganism with the use of a weapon and a threat to kill a neighbor whom he met immediately after the shot.
According to the prosecution, on October 16, 2022, Andrei fired from a hunting rifle registered to him at a street billboard advertising military service under a contract.
In court, he explained his action by the fact that he was very worried about the mobilization announced in Russia and shot because of the accumulated stress, trying to somehow throw out his emotions.
In turn, Andrei's mother and lawyers said that during the investigation, the security forces tortured him with suffocation and electricity, demanding that he confess to setting fire to the local military registration and enlistment office.
On September 24, 2022, an unknown person threw a Molotov cocktail into the building of the military registration and enlistment office in the city of Kansk. The security forces never managed to find the arsonist.
