An animal rights activist who opposes the euthanasia of stray animals was detained near the State Duma

Animal rights activist Yury Koretsky was detained near the State Duma. He himself confirmed this information to OVD-Info.

The activist is charged with organizing the collection of signatures against the euthanasia of homeless animals. The detainee was taken to the Tverskoy base camp. The security forces threaten to take away his phone.

In mid-April, State Duma deputy Sardana Avksentieva put forward a bill to that effect. As Koretskikh said in a conversation with SOTA, activists have been collecting signatures all week outside the State Duma building in Moscow, as well as in other cities. The appeal has already been signed by more than 3,000 people.

The stand, which he used to collect signatures, was confiscated from the activist.
