In the Perm Territory, a monument was demolished by the repressed Poles and Lithuanians

In the abandoned village of Galyashor in the north of the Perm Territory, a monument was destroyed to the Poles and Lithuanians - victims of political repression. This was announced by Novaya Gazeta by the chairman of the Perm Memorial Robert Latypov.

“The fact that the monument was destroyed was discovered by residents of the village of Velva-Baza, who came to get out in the cemetery near Galyashor,” says Latypov. -According to them, they did not see some special equipment to pass in the direction of Galyashor, so when and by whom the monument was demolished, it was unknown. There is no other road, except through the Velva Baza, to Galyashor.

Maybe the technique specially passed off -road so that the locals did not raise the noise, because for them this monument and the cemetery in Galyashor are very significant: they themselves are the descendants of the repressed.

Latypov notes that the monument was erected in 2016 at the expense of the initiative group of Lithuania citizens, including those born in Galyashor.

- This village was founded in 1932, and from the first days special migrants were sent there, who were forced to work on the harvesting of the forest. Most of all people were brought there in the winter of 1945, shortly before the end of the war. The monument is engraved by the names of 89 Lithuanian and Polish special settlers who died directly in Galyashor.

All of them under the legislation of the Russian Federation, the legislation of Lithuania and Poland were rehabilitated as victims of political repressions, they are all found in no one’s not guilty victims of terror.

Now we can only hope that the vandals - and I consider the demolition of the monument an act of vandalism - did not touch the Galyashorsky cemetery, which is located in the taiga.

Latypov says that the monument consisted entirely of concrete and reinforcement, was very strong, and in order to destroy it, it was necessary either to carry out explosive work, or use special equipment. “It was definitely a special operation,” he remarks emotionally.

- It is quite obvious to me that the only reason for the destruction of the monument is the nationality of the people to whom it is dedicated.

Poland and Lithuania are now considered “unfriendly countries”, which means that everything that is connected will be destroyed, ”says Latypov.

Representatives of the Administration of the Komi-Permyatsky District and the Government of the Perm Territory information about the demolition of the monument in Galyashor have not yet commented.

It is worth noting that the destruction of the monument is not the first episode of the Galyashorsky confrontation of the authorities with local residents and historians. In 2019, employees of the Perm Memorial and the volunteers went to the village with an expedition to restore order in the local cemetery. A few days later, FSB officers came to the camp, who said that activists were suspected of “unauthorized lesson of forest plots” and illegal cutting of forest. As a result, seven administrative protocols were drawn up against them and a criminal case was instituted (which, according to the Memorials themselves, was not carried out). A criminal case was opened against a resident of Velva-bases of Leonid Ladanov for an allegedly fictitious registration of Lithuania citizens, participants in the expedition. Subsequently, all administrative cases were allowed by the courts in favor of the “memorials”, Ladanov was recognized as innocent, as it turned out that the Lithuanians really lived with him, and among them was his childhood friend Genyus Balyukevichus. The status of a criminal case of illegal logging is still unknown.
