In 2019, garbage reform began in Russia. According to the idea of the Ministry of Nature, it should reduce the volume of waste to the training grounds, and make the process of garbage processing more environmentally friendly. In the suburbs, the problem began to fight quite decisively - and already in the first year, the governor Andrei Vorobyev announced that almost all garbage training grounds were closed, and the remaining in the near future would be reclaimed or turned into modern processing complexes.
However, today such complexes are not much different from old garbage dumps. According to the study of the Accounts Chamber,
90% of municipal solid waste is not processed, but only stored at training grounds.
In the metropolitan region, about 12 million tons of garbage are formed annually. There are not enough territories allocated by the KPO, the necessary measures to protect the environment from harmful substances do not work, and residents of nearby settlements regularly complain of pollution of air, water and land.
People who live next to the current or planned landfills are trying to draw attention to their misfortune. On the example of two settlements in the suburbs, we show how garbage reform actually works. This story about the state in which the “closed” landfill is located near Mozhaisk and what the construction of a “modern” complex for processing waste with a security zone near Serpukhov can do.
The Garbage training ground "Brahrovo" has been in the Mozhaisk district of the Moscow Region and has existed since 2007. It is located in the security zone of the Borodinskoye Field Museum-Reserve. In 2020, he was officially closed and turned into a waste processing complex, but the mountains of garbage are still growing.

In 2020, it became known about the construction plans in the Serpukhov district of the new KPO Stupino, in the buffer zone of the Priok-Terracial Reserve and next to several villages. Locals began an active campaign against the new landfill and at the moment its construction has been postponed. However, Bereznyak in the alleged territory of the complex is gradually cut down.

From the training ground "Brahrovo" to the nearest residential building - 416 meters. Its owner, farmer Alexei Nikolaevich, has been living here for more than 40 years and does not want to leave. He is careful about his land, nurses wounded animals and even makes his honey. Locals conduct subbotniks and try to force the owners of the KPO to fulfill the necessary norms, but so far unsuccessfully.

According to the project from the KPO "Stupino" to the nearest villages-Kolychevo and the novelties-Bagichevo-less than a kilometer. There are summer cottages and agricultural lands here. Soon another village will appear in this area.

The Elenka river flows in Kryubovo. Its water is saturated-medal color, in some places turning into black. A dark shade and pungent smell appear thanks to the filtrate - substance, which is formed with decay of solid household waste. It should be pumped out with special pumps, but here, apparently, it merges directly into the river. Based on the results of analyzes carried out by an independent laboratory, the ammonia nitrogen content is almost 108 times in water, and the content of iron is 33 times. Also in high volume, oil products, phosphates, lithium are contained.

Around the alleged KPO "Stupino" are the rivers of Rechma and Lapasny. In the case of their pollution, the territory of several hundred hectares will suffer: poisoning of groundwater, the deposition of toxic substances in the soil and water.

Near the territory of the garbage training ground are the nesting places of the White Stork - red -blooded birds fly here annually. From their homes, they are driven by the sounds of shots, with which the KPO officers are trying to scare the birds from the landfill. The diet of storks is gradually poor: in the immediate vicinity of the landfill there are no snakes, no insects, or frogs. Alexey Nikolaevich, who lives nearby, often selects and nurses injured birds.

The designed KPO "Stupino" is indicated in the buffer zone of the Prioko-Terracial Reserve. This territory is under special protection, at a distance of two kilometers from the protected zone any construction is prohibited. The Prioksko-Terrasny Reserve is included in the World Wesnesko Biosphere reserves network; There is a nursery of red -black bison and hundreds of species of mammals, birds and fish live.

Around the garbage training ground - a spontaneous landfill. In the nearest forest, a part of the garbage with KPO brings the wind, filtrate constantly flows from under the fence, and a suffocating smell spreads all year round. According to studies of independent laboratories, the content of oil products, heavy metals and arsenic is increased in the soil, and carcinogenic dioxins are present in the air.

Between the settlements of Kolychevo and the novelties-Bagichevo-the edge of the forest, where local residents walk and play sports. Near the new cottage village there are benches, playgrounds and bike paths. So far, here you can breathe and walk on clean earth.

Local residents of settlements in the Serpukhov district are breeding animals, fishing in the river, and playgrounds and bike paths appear at the new cottage village. Here they regularly take out the garbage and so far you can walk along the forest path without falling into rotting waste.
