Ukrainian journalist Bohdan Bitik, who accompanied Corrado Zunino, a correspondent for the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, died in the Kherson region.
According to La Repubblica, journalists were ambushed by Russian snipers near the Antonovsky Bridge: “We passed three checkpoints, the Ukrainian military let us through without any problems. This was not a war zone. Then they hit us, I heard a hiss and saw Bogdan on the ground, he didn’t move, ”said the Italian journalist.
According to Zunino, he himself was wounded in the shoulder. Having got out of the shelling zone, he was able to stop a car passing by, in which he reached the Kherson hospital.
The newspaper emphasizes that both journalists were wearing body armor with the inscription "Press".
In turn, the press service of the office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported that the office had launched a pre-trial investigation under the article on violation of the laws and customs of war.
