The Southern District Military Court upheld the court's decision to arrest the head of the armored service, Colonel Alexander Denisov, who is accused of stealing engines for T-90 tanks, Kommersant reports.

According to investigators, from November 2021 to April 2022, the colonel stole seven V-92S2 engines intended for installation on T-90 tanks. Investigators estimated the total amount of damage at 20.5 million rubles.

The criminal case against the colonel was opened on March 28, and on the same day the military man was detained. He is charged under an article on large-scale fraud committed by an organized group. He faces up to ten years in prison.

The newspaper does not know whether the investigation has established other defendants in the case. The garrison military court of Rostov-on-Don arrested Denisov on 29 March.

At the same time, the colonel's lawyer Roman Budarin, in a conversation with Kommersant, said that his client did not admit guilt. “An innocent person is being held accountable. There is no evidence of Denisov's guilt," the lawyer said.
