
The Presnensky District Court of Moscow registered the case of Sophia Sapieha, which the court in Grodno (Belarus) earlier sentenced to six years on charges of administering the opposition telegram channel. Attention to the card was drawn to the Mediazon.
In May 2021, the Russian citizen was detained at the Minsk Airport after an emergency landing of the aircraft, on which she flew from Athens to Vilnius with her young man Roman Protasevich, an ex-administrator of the Belarusian Opposition Telegram channel Nexta. A few days after the detention in the telegram channel related to the authorities of Belarus, a video was published in which the girl “admitted” in the administration of a protest telegram channel.
In the spring of 2022, Sapegu was sentenced to real terms under articles on fraction of enmity and growth (part 3 of article 130 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus) and illegal collection of information about private life (part 1 of article 179 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus). According to the prosecution, she posted information about security forces, judges and officials of the republic in the Black Book of Belarus.
In April of this year, the Ministry of Justice of Russia sent materials to the FSIN and the Presnensky court on the transfer of Sapieha to Russia for further serving the sentence after her mother’s appeal. The file cabinet of the Russian court states that in the country of citizenship of the girl the case will be considered under the article on the excess of authority by an employee of the ChOP A (part 1 of article 203 of the Criminal Code).
