Scully Milano is the pseudonym of 21-year-old Daniil Dmitriev. He became famous as one of the main conductors of scam and Detroit rap into the mainstream.

What is scam and detroit rap?

Scam rap is a rap about, in fact, a scam, that is, deceiving other people for your own benefit. So, at the initial stage of his career, Milano told how he deceived the American rapper Lil B and “divorced” him into a joint track, dropping a screenshot with a fake check, and also hacked the mails of other rappers to sell their demo tracks.

Detroit rap is an often chaotic and loosely connected collection of absurd punchlines. "My grandfather was killed by a pterodactyl in World War II," Scully reads in the track "The Conversation." And this is about the best description of Detroit as a style.

In 2021, Scully brightly lit up on the album of another hero of the new school of Russian rap - FreeRio by OG Buda - and since then he has only continued to grow his audience. At the time of publication of this text, Scully Milano has more than 900 thousand listeners per month on Yandex Music and 500 thousand on Spotify.

Scully Milano's music is such a kaleidoscope of absurdity, vulgarity and drugs. His top five tracks on streaming include the Internet hit Yoopi Yo (begins with the phrase "I want to give it to her in the mouth"), as well as the tracks "Move your ass" and "I want to fuck you."

In April 2022, Scully became a guest of the show "Inclusion", where he was asked if he was afraid to read his songs against the backdrop of tightening legislation on musicians. Answer: “Fuck me, this is my music. Am I supposed to change my music because of this? Should you be afraid? [If I censored my songs,] everyone would turn their backs on me. I was also loved in the texts for this.

Repenting for my past

On April 22, rapper Scally Milano performed in St. Petersburg. The concert ended after the very first song: the police arrived at the Giant Hall club and interrupted the performance. At first, there were rumors about the arrest of the musician (they were denied), and among the reasons for the appearance of the police they called the death of a concert visitor from an overdose (also not true). Scully wrote on Telegram that he and his team are "trying to figure out why".

That same evening, Ekaterina Mizulina powerfully flew into the discussion. She dedicated a series of posts to the rapper, where she gave screenshots of his songs and said that he harms young people and is generally a “bastard”. She also wrote that her organization, the League of Safe Internet (Mizulina's organization, which is engaged in the "eradication of dangerous content" on the Internet) will seek to bring the rapper to justice for "inducing minors to use drugs." She also found a tiktok of Scully chanting "Fuck the war."

On April 24, Scully Milano released a statement saying he was "not an enemy". And he announced that he has a negative attitude towards alcohol and drugs, and his mother is in general now in a rehabilitation clinic. He noted that he did not oppose the war: “I said that I love the country that gave me life. I love my homeland, no matter what it may seem to everyone else. It is a fact. And under no circumstances would I stand in opposition to her.” However, the very next day, the telegram channel Mash, citing an unnamed source, reported that Scully had flown to Dubai, and his Moscow concert, scheduled for April 28, had been cancelled .

On April 26, Scully published another big statement , this time addressed to "representatives of the Safe Internet League organization and directly to Ekaterina Mikhailovna Mizulina, as well as to all those involved and representatives of various bodies." In it, Milano said that he "realized his mistakes" in his past work and promises to change the vector of his work to a more "positive" one.

Recognizing mistakes is an act

On April 26, music media drew attention to the fact that individual Milano tracks disappeared from Russian streaming. Among the songs that have disappeared are “Speaker of garbage”, “Swindler”, “Russian Scam” and other tracks in which, if desired, you can find calls for things prohibited by the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
On the same day, Scully Milano's single "Give Me a Chance" was released, recorded together with uglystephan. This is a typical trap ballad, which, in the context of recent days, can easily be mistaken for an appeal to Mizulina, but in reality this is hardly the case.

Why are you so sure?

Scully reads: "I love you, no matter what's in your natal chart, I don't believe in tarot, I don't believe in these signs. You are my love, and only this will be true. It's hard to imagine that this verse is inspired by a patriotic activist.

Nevertheless, in her response to the rapper, Mizulina said that she “gives Scully a ‘chance’”: “Realizing your mistakes and rethinking is an act. Not everyone is capable of this. It is not so easy to publicly say that you were wrong, no matter how it seems. This is the position of a strong man, and it deserves respect.”

It turned out that the most daring and daring artists of the new generation can turn their creativity around 180 degrees in a couple of days and easily follow the lead of such a chaotic (and rarely logical) organization as the Safe Internet League.
