The case of Crimean activist Irina Danilovich was returned to the court of first instance

The Supreme Court of Crimea returned the case of activist Irina Danilovich to a lower court, since Danilovich was not previously allowed to familiarize herself with the case materials. The Crimean Process reports this.

Danilovic was detained in April 2022. For a long time, her relatives did not know where she was. The activist spoke about pressure and physical violence from FSB officers.

According to the security forces, Danilovich kept 200 grams of explosives in the lining of her glasses case. The woman was charged with an article on illegal actions with explosives or explosive devices (Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code). The Crimean woman and her defense argued that explosives were planted on her. In December, she was sentenced to seven years in prison and a fine of 50 thousand rubles.

In March, the activist went on a hunger strike due to the fact that she was not provided with medical care: while in prison, she developed otitis media, dizziness and headaches. On April 6, Danilovic stopped her hunger strike because they promised to take her to the hospital. Since then, according to Bronislav Danilovich, his daughter was examined by a doctor only once, and she was not provided with any other medical care.

• Irina Danilovich is a Crimean activist who worked as a nurse in one of the boarding houses in Koktebel. She collaborated with the publication “INzhir Media” and the human rights project “Crimean Process”, defended the interests of health workers on the peninsula and wrote a lot about violations of their rights, for example, about underpayments for working with Covid patients. In June, the Ministry of Justice included Danilovich in the register of media “foreign agents”.
