17-year-old Yaroslav Inozemtsev was detained in Yerevan. In Russia he was accused of preparing an attack on a school and sentenced to forced treatment

In Yerevan, at the request of the Russian authorities, 17-year-old Yaroslav Inozemtsev was detained, who was found guilty in Russia of preparing an attack on a school. The detention of the teenager was reported to the telegram channel Sota by his mother, Yulia Inozemtseva. She also confirmed this information to the Kavkaz.Realii publication.

According to Inozemtseva, she does not yet know the address of the temporary detention center where her son was placed, but she says that local human rights activists are already helping him. In particular, Yaroslav, on the advice of a lawyer from the Armenian Helsinki Group, wrote an application for political asylum, since he is in danger in Russia.

The teenager's mother also stated that she intends to seek support from various authorities, including "through the diplomatic line", in order to prevent her son's extradition. According to Sota, Inozemtsev was detained for 72 hours. After that, the court will have to decide on extradition.

Yulia Inozemtseva also told the Telegram channel that in Yerevan she and her son were waiting for a visa to Europe. According to her, the location of the family was revealed to the Volgograd branch of the FSB by her ex-husband, Yaroslav's father, who thus tried to return his wife, writes Sota. According to the Telegram channel, the address was given to the father by the son.

Update. Telegram channel Sota writes that Yaroslav Inozemtsev was released from the police. The teenager's mother told the channel that she did not yet know about the procedural status of her son, however, according to her, the police assured him that "everything would be fine."

• Yaroslav Inozemtsev was detained in June 2020 (then he was 14 years old). After the arrest, the teenager was either sent to a pre-trial detention center or transferred to a psycho-neurological dispensary. In the summer of 2022, the court sentenced Inozemtsev to indefinite compulsory psychiatric treatment. In March 2023, it became known that Yulia and Yaroslav Inozemtsev had fled Russia.
