“Both my legs are broken, one fracture is open.” Prilepin spoke about the assassination attempt

Writer and politician Zakhar Prilepin published the first post on his Telegram channel after the assassination attempt. According to him, at the time of the explosion on May 6 in the Nizhny Novgorod region, he was driving a car.

There is some confusion in the media. [My driver] Sasha was driving on the right in the passenger seat. I was driving. The explosion occurred under his wheel. I lost consciousness for about three minutes, woke up and crawled to the broken windshield. The villagers ran up and helped me get out. Both of my legs are broken (one fracture is open) and there is something else.

He also confirmed that he dropped his daughter out of the car five minutes before the explosion.

“I was informed that there were two mines. But this guy got scared and immediately ran away after the explosion of the first one. If he blew up the second one, everyone would die. He was caught,” Prilepin added.

  • Zakhar Prilepin's car exploded on May 6 in the Borsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The driver of the writer Alexander Shubin died. The wounded Prilepin was transported from the site of the explosion by helicopter to the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital named after Semashko, where he underwent surgery. On the morning of May 7, Prilepin was taken out of a medically induced coma.
  • Upon the fact of the explosion, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the attack. The Russian Foreign Ministry blamed the Ukrainian special services and their "Western patrons" for the incident.
