At the end of 2022, Russia began to cancel performances with the participation of actress Liya Akhedzhakova, who regularly spoke out against the war in Ukraine and in support of the political prisoners.

In early April, the actress left the Moscow Contemporary, and at the end of the month the last planned performance with the participation of Akhedzhakova was canceled in Russia.

Meanwhile, the head of the Federal Safety and Combating Corruption Project, Vitaly Borodin, asked the Prosecutor General to recognize Akhedzhakov “ino -agent” and initiate three criminal cases against her, including under an article on state reception. Borodin wrote a denunciation of an actor of St. Petersburg MDT Danil Kozlovsky.

Rospotrebnadzor sealed the Small Drama Theater of St. Petersburg until May 12. The official reason was “violations in the field of sanitary and epidemiological norms”: the lack of fluorography results for some MDT employees, wall decoration in pantries and mops without marking.

Now the court can close the theater for up to three months to “correct the shortcomings”.

In April, the Small Drama Theater canceled performances with the participation of actor Danila Kozlovsky, who is now being checked for "discrediting the army." And at the beginning of the war, the head of MDT Lev Dodin turned to Vladimir Putin with a request to stop the fighting.

How did they come to MDT with checks

The doors of the Small Drama Theater were sealed on the evening of May 5, the first one noticed the Fontanka. According to the deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Boris Vishnevsky, on May 5, at 12 o’clock, with a check, the prosecutor's office, Rospotrebnadzor and the Ministry of Emergencies came to the theater.

Rospotrebnadzor issued a protocol on the temporary ban on the work of MDT from May 6. On May 11, a court will be held, which can both open the theater and extend the suspension of its work for up to 90 days.

A source of Fontanka said that after an unknown citizen to the prosecutor’s office, the authorities began the audit in the MDT, and at the hearing on May 11, the bodies would insist on the closure of the MDT for 90 days and the need to check the financial and economic activities of the theater.

What Lev Dodin wrote to Putin

The artistic director of MDT Lev Dodin opposed the invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine. In February 2022, he wrote a personal letter to Vladimir Putin, and then the magazine Theater published his open appeal to the president. At the end of the letter, the director urged to stop military operations.

“It was impossible for me, the child of the Great Patriotic War, even in a terrible dream, it was impossible to imagine Russian missiles aimed at Ukrainian cities, villages, driving Kiev in bomb shelters, forcing them to escape from their country. In childhood, we played the defense of Moscow, Stalingrad, Leningrad, Kyiv. It is even impossible to imagine that today Kyiv is defended or surrendered to Russian soldiers and officers. The Khudruk MDT added that art and culture could not cope with their main mission - to teach a person to perceive someone else's pain and explain that no idea is worth human life.

Now the page with the appeal of Leo Dodin on the website of the magazine Theater has been deleted . There were no complaints about the statement of the anti-war position to the MDT-at least until 2023.

Who wrote denunciations on Kozlovsky

On April 10, it became known that the head of the Public Organization “Federal Safety and Combating Corruption” Vitaly Borodin wrote to the actor of the Small Drama Theater Danil Kozlovsky in the Prosecutor General’s Office and asked to check it for “discrediting” the Russian army. In the appeal of Borodin, it was said that Kozlovsky urged to go to rallies and left for the United States.

The State Duma deputy from Fair Russia Dmitry Kuznetsov asked the chairman of the Petersburg Culture Committee Fedor Boltin to prevent MDT Danil Kozlovsky and Ksenia Rappoport to the scene due to their anti-war position (the committee redirected the request to the Ministry of Culture).

Soon after the denunciation, the prosecutor's office began checking the statements of Kozlovsky. The actor himself rejected the accusations of “discrediting the army”, saying that words with “calls to the rally” were torn from the recording from the filming process, and in the USA he went to the child. The leadership of MDT has not yet officially expressed about the visit of Rospotrebnadzor, the Ministry of Emergencies and the prosecutor's office. However, artists are afraid that the theater "will give 90 days to correct the flaws."
