A Moscow history student was arrested for five days for reading the memoirs of an SS soldier in the subway.

On May 7, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow arrested student-historian Vladimir Panin for five days under an article about a public display of Nazi symbols. Information about this is available to it . drew attention on the website of the court, the publication "Caution, news"

The reason for the detention on May 6 was that in a subway car at the Chistye Prudy station, a young man was reading a work that is a memoir of a fictional SS officer Peter Neumann. The cover of the book depicts a German soldier in a helmet with SS symbols banned in Russia - this is what the police drew attention to.

At the court session, the historian explained that he was not fond of the ideas of Nazism, and read the book as a historical source due to his education. However, the court was not satisfied.

The court ordered the book to be confiscated and then destroyed.
