50-year-old person involved in the Hizb Ut-Tahrir case was transferred to the prison of the Ulyanovsk region

The 50-year-old Crimean Tatar Rustem Seytmemetov, convicted in the case of involvement in Hizb Ut-Tahrir, was transferred to the Dimitrovgrad prison of the Ulyanovsk region. This was reported by the project "Crimean Solidarity" with reference to his wife Zer Zeinetdinov.

In a letter to the family, he said that upon arrival in prison, he was placed in a quarantine camera, where six people are at the same time. Of these, three are the Crimean Tatars, political prisoners from the Crimea. “I have more or less normal, the average health, sometimes the pressure jumps, is still tolerant. On the road [it was] almost a month, I try to recover, ”Seytmemetov shared.

In a prison in Dimitrovgrad, the Ulyanovsk region, Seytmemetov will serve three and a half years from his thirteen -year imprisonment.

Rustem Seytmemetov was detained and sent after masssearches at the Crimean Tatars in the spring of 2020 as part of the third Bakhchisarai case “Hizb Ut-Tahrir”. After a year and a half, the court sentenced the persons involved in the terms of 12 to 17 years in a maximum security colony. Saemetov received 13 years, he was found guilty of articles on participation in the activities of a terrorist organization (part 2 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code) and on preparation for violent seizure of power (Article 278 of the Criminal Code using part 1 of article 30 of the Criminal Code).

• The Hizb Ut-Tahrir Islamist party was recognized as a terrorist organization on the territory of Russia. Its participants are accused and sentenced to real terms only on the basis of the fact that they met in apartments, read religious literature and recruited new participants. Memorial ”on February 23, 2023, in connection with the involvement of Hizb U-Tahrir al-Islami, at least 334 people are persecuted, 27 of them are wanted. At least 253 people were convicted, of which 107 defendants were sentenced to deadlines over fifteen years of the colony. In total, the Memorial recognized the 280 defendants in cases of involvement in the Hizb Ut-Tahrir al-Islami (233 of them is currently being persecuted, and 47 of them were freed to serve the sentence).
