Alexander Lukashenko missed the celebration of the Day of the Flag, Emblem and National Anthem on May 14. The Belarusian edition of Nasha Niva drew attention to this. The appeal at the event instead of Lukashenka was read by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko. Then this speech was published on the website of the President of the Republic. In 2021 and 2022, Lukashenka attended events on the occasion of this holiday. Last year, he gave a speech that lasted almost 20 minutes.

The last time Alexander Lukashenko was seen was at the parade in Moscow on May 9th. The Belarusian media drew attention to his emaciated appearance and bandaged right hand. Describing what was happening at the parade, Kommersant journalist Andrei Kolesnikov noted that Lukashenka "impressed with his unhealthy appearance." According to Kolesnikov, he "suddenly felt sorry for this elderly man." “Now he seemed to be completely unwell, and God forbid, he would need a stretcher with a resuscitation instrument, which was brought to the corner of GUM just before the start of the event,” he wrote.

After the parade, Lukashenka did not walk from the Kremlin along the Alexander Garden with the leaders of the CIS countries - he was taken to the eternal flame in an electric car. Also, Lukashenka did not attend an informal breakfast in the Kremlin. The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, then explained this by the fact that Lukashenka needed to “leave as soon as possible” for events in Belarus.

Later that day, Lukashenka laid a wreath at a monument on Victory Square in Minsk, but did not deliver a speech at the event. Instead, it was the Minister of Defense of Belarus Viktor Khrenin who did it - Lukashenka stood aside at that time. The publication "Nasha Niva" notes that "some kind of virus" could join his chronic diseases.

Alexander Lukashenko is 68 years old and has been in power since 1994.
