The prosecution requested nine years in prison for civil activist from Moscow Mikhail Kriger, who is being prosecuted under articles on public justification of terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) and inciting hatred or enmity with the threat of violence (Clause “a” of Part 2 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by the telegram channel “Freedom for Mikhail Krieger!”
In addition to the real term for the activist, they also requested a ban on administering sites for a period of four years, writes SOTA.
Krieger was charged with justifying terrorism because of a post published “no later than December 2020.” In the text, according to investigators, the activist justified the actions committed “in 2018 in the city of Arkhangelsk and in 2019 in Moscow.” In the first case, we are probably talking about the self-explosion of Mikhail Zhlobitsky in the Arkhangelsk FSB building, in the second, presumably, about Yevgeny Manyurov, who opened fire near the FSB building in Moscow.
Later, the activist’s charges were strengthened by adding an article about inciting hatred or enmity. The reason was another post, which contained the words: “I don’t hide from anyone my fierce hatred of the regime, the security officers who established it, and personally V.V. Putin. And believe me, when and if I live to see this GBsh nit hanged, “I will fight with all my might for the right to participate in this uplifting event.”
Krieger was detained on November 3, 2022. The man was not far from the Kurskaya metro station near the Artplay space when security forces in black balaclavas ran up to him, threw him to the ground and then took him away in an unknown direction. The security forces also took away the car in which he arrived. Later that day, the activist’s home was searched.
Two days later, the Cheryomushkinsky District Court arrested Krieger for two months. At the end of November he was transferred to SIZO-2 “Butyrka”. On May 11, he was transferred to the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center.
14:05 The project “For Human Rights” reports that a public defender was not allowed to see Krieger in the pre-trial detention center.
The prosecution demanded that the activist be sentenced to six and five years in prison on two counts of justifying terrorism, as well as five years on the article of inciting hatred. By adding up the sentences, the total requested sentence is nine years.
