British writer Martin Emis died

In the USA, in Florida, the writer Martin Emis died , one of the most striking English -speaking authors of his generation. Emis was 73 years old.

Critics highly assess its influence on the literature of the 1980s. Along with writers such as Salman Rushdi, Ian Mcueen and Julian Barnes, Emis was a key figure in the British literary scene of the last quarter of the twentieth century.

Martin Emis was the son of a famous British writer and poet Kingsley Emis. For advice to engage in literature, he thanked his stepmother, also a famous writer Elizabeth Jane Howard. The first novel by Martin Emis "Notes on Rachel" attracted the attention of the public and critics. It was awarded the 1974 Maugham Somerset Prize. In total, Emis wrote 14 novels.
