The Primorsky Regional Court banned Communist Party deputy Artem Samsonov, who is accused of showing a dildo to a teenager, to communicate with his parents, wife and son. Information about this appeared in his telegram channel.
The judge who made the decision explained that such a ban is necessary “to fulfill the tasks provided for by criminal and criminal procedural legislation.” It is unknown how exactly, in the court’s opinion, the criminal trial will be interfered with by the arrestee’s communication with close relatives.
In September 2022, Samsonov was sentenced to 13 years in a maximum security colony on charges of sexual assault against a person under fourteen years of age (clause “b”, part 4 of article 132 of the Criminal Code). On February 27, the regional court sent the case for a new trial and transferred the deputy from the pre-trial detention center to house arrest. However, in early May, the cassation court overturned the decision to overturn the sentence, and Samsonov was again placed in isolation.
Currently, the Primorsky Regional Court is again considering an appeal against the original verdict of the trial court. Lawyer Natalya Kasilova, in an interview with PrimaMedia, previously emphasized that during the first consideration of the appeal, the regional court recognized a violation of Samsonov’s rights and issued a special ruling to the judges of the district court.
A criminal case was opened against the deputy in November 2021: two months earlier, the local branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, which he headed, won the elections to the regional parliament in 8 out of 11 polling stations in Vladivostok.
According to investigators, the politician showed the dildo and told about the purpose of the object to an 11-year-old boy, with whose family he was at the same recreation center.
The prosecution believes that Samsonov committed the crime in July 2018 in a tent camp on a wild beach, where the boy was vacationing with his father Nikolai Koldaev. Initially, Koldaev stated that he set up the tent in June and did not remove it until September. However, the defense was able to prove that the family set up a tent in the camp only in August. Then Koldaev changed his testimony: according to the new version, he put up the tent in June, but then repeatedly took it down for repairs.
The reason for initiating a criminal case was a statement from a friend of the deputy, Irina Safonova, who is in a relationship with the father of the boy victim in the case. Previously, Samsonov had set up a tent camp on a wild beach, but due to his busyness in the party, he handed over the position of informal leader of the camp to Safonova.
“Mediazona” reported that a conflict arose between them: Safonova decided to take money from vacationers on a closed beach; the deputy himself wanted it to be a free urban space. The publication notes that the woman repeatedly wrote statements against Samsonov with the wording “he walks around naked and campaigns for Navalny.”
Mediazona journalists also convey the lawyers’ version: “dildos – in large quantities and repeatedly – were brought to the beach by Safonova herself.” Defense attorneys interviewed more than a dozen witnesses who confirmed this information and provided them with relevant photographs and videos.
21:15 In the pre-trial detention center, Artem Samsonov’s medical cards were confiscated, using which he could receive pills for hypertension. He needs to take these medications daily. “7×7” reports this.
