According to the explanation of the Burprisnadzor, there are too many cormorants and they are damaged by the "objects of the animal world." The department also proposed reimbursing the hunters to shoot the birds, since murder is a "time -consuming and expensive process."

Experts call the solution a "social order for the cormorant" and associate it with the promotion of the interests of poachers. “The scale of the poaching omul mining in Lake Baikal is really impressive: only in 2019–2020, more than two thousand tons of this fish were seized from the fishermen. Exactly the volume that they are trying to impose a cups,” said the ornithologist Vitaly Ryabtsev.

After permission to shoot the cups, Buryat officials are discussing the mass murder of the Baikal seal: they allegedly also “too active” eat omul.

According to the director of the Center for Wildlife Protection Alexei Zimenko, the murder of animals on an industrial scale is gross interference in natural processes, the consequences of which are usually unpredictable.
