According to the interlocutor of the editorial office, the employees of OMON and the FSB came to the hostel before the start of classes, on the morning of May 19. They turned off the surveillance cameras and began to beat students. The witness of the incident noted that the employees in masks used "tactical gloves with special inserts on the fingers similar to brass knuckles." In addition, they were armed with pistols and electric shockers. “Anyone who asked why they were beaten, received an additional blow,” said the student.

According to him, the students seized phones and documents. Six students from Tajikistan were interrogated, but soon released. During the raid, employees beat about 100 residents of the hostel, 15 people received injuries, some of them, according to the interlocutor, need an operation. The dormitory administration and university in response to students' complaints said that "they could not do anything." Students also contacted the Tajikistan embassy in Russia, where they "promised to contact them on Monday, but did not call."

The rector of Knagu Eduard Dmitriev, Treko, confirmed the conflict of students with law enforcement officials, but he denies mass beatings. According to the rector, the university was checking the migration service.

"There was an attempt to obstruct law enforcement agencies to fulfill their duties by 4 students from Tajikistan, which was suppressed by representatives of law enforcement agencies," Dmitriev said. He did not specify exactly how the actions of students were "stopped".
