The FSB announced the prevention of sabotage at two nuclear power plants

The FSB reported on the prevention of sabotage at the Leningrad and Kalinin nuclear power plants. The intelligence service said that on the eve of May 9, the citizens of Ukraine allegedly planned to undermine more than 30 pylons of high-voltage power lines (power lines).

“According to the plan of the Ukrainian special services, this would lead to the shutdown of nuclear reactors, disruption of the normal operation of the nuclear power plant and cause serious economic and reputational damage to the Russian Federation,” the press service of the FSB told TASS.

They also noted that the saboteurs allegedly managed to undermine one and mine four more power lines of the Leningrad NPP, as well as plant improvised explosive devices under seven power lines of the Kalinin NPP.

As reported, two citizens of Ukraine, Oleksandr Maystruk and Eduard Usatenko, were detained. The Russian authorities also put on the wanted list another alleged saboteur, Yuri Kishchak, who is now in Belgium. He, according to the intelligence service, has dual citizenship - Russia and Ukraine.

According to the FSB, all three were recruited in September 2022 by an SVRU officer, Lieutenant Colonel Vitaly Gorbatyuk. After that, they allegedly underwent special training in camps in the Kyiv and Nikolaev regions of Ukraine, and then illegally crossed the Russian-Belarusian border in the Pskov region, where they arrived from the territory of Ukraine in transit through Poland.

“In addition, two accomplices of saboteurs from among Russian citizens were identified and detained, who assisted them in providing them with means of communication and vehicles with fake state registration plates,” the intelligence service says.
