The best film of the 76th Cannes Film Festival was recognized as the Judicial Drama "The Trajectory of the Fall" Frenchwoman Justin Triege. The second time in three years, the “gold palm branch” is received by a woman. Prior to this, in the entire history of the film, this happened only once. The "fall of the fall" has already been bought for rental in Russia - a big luck in the present time. Russian premiere - September 14th. The film critic of Zinaida Pronchenko as a whole approves the decision of the jury under the guidance of a two -time (and last year) winner of the main filming of the planet Ruben Estlund, but if she were in his place, he would have disposed of prizes differently. And the main film Cannes-2023, according to Pronchenko, could not win even theoretically.

Let's be honest, the Cannes Festival of 2023 turned out to be quite weak. In two weeks, we were shown only three films that deserve genuine delight. Maybe just such a year - lean, or perhaps, including directors, are tired of reality and, not feeling the strength to overcome it with their art, chose to speak on learned or completely secondary topics.
Already at the opening ceremony it became clear-in 2023, Cannes return to feminist optics and decolonial rhetoric, about the war going in Europe, if they mention somewhere, then casually, hiding behind barely smoldering metaphors. Michael Douglas rattled something about the war-they handed him an honorary branch for his merits-then he was confused, reading the facts of his own biography from the television room. The poem by Lesia Ukrainka, very worried, produced Katrin Deneuve, as if she allowed her Faux Pas outside the regulations.
In general, publicity and transparency reigned only on the red carpet, where Martin Scorsese did not come in a “naked” outfit. About naked facts - silence. Even the short film of Godra, hastily declared by his testament to the orphaned descendants, sounded in the same squeamish tonality. “I don’t want to speak Russian now,” GSL mutters, and this is not the abolition of Russia, but a characteristic wave of a hand: sort it out yourself, I have to go to the next world with the help of euthanasia.
It is not yet possible to understand yet, and every Russian, reaching Croazette, felt at this holiday civilized and prosperous, if not strangers, then rather uninvited. They are no longer driven, but they are in no hurry to accept. On the other hand, Cannes as one of the symbols of the conditional West for the domestic press, and simply for compatriots, for many years have become something like a famous bistro located on the corner from the Montparnas cemetery and once called “better here than opposite”.
Well, the kitchen is already closed, so I, perhaps, will imagine myself with Ruben Estlund and distributed a vnige reward.
I will make a reservation right away: the main drama of the Cannes-2023 is that the best film is the last festival, and, possibly, its last ten years, Martin Skorsze’s killers, does not compete with anyone, but floats in the open sea, like a giant liner, blocking all kinds of overview on the shore. Skorsze filmed the 2017 Non-Fix, American journalist David Grann, but in his own way he placed semantic accents in this saga about a white man, turned by a thirst for bait into a human outfit. Grenn wrote about the birth of the FBI, Skorsze removes about the fall of the nation, which has committed the genocide of the Indian population in Oklahom at the beginning of the twentieth century. DiCaprio here fearlessly calls to the duel de Niro, masterfully embodying on the screen the absolute insignificance of Ernest Burkhart - an affectionate calf who drinks all the juices of his wife, a wealthy heiress from the Oseege tribe. And all the blood squeezing out of great American history, on which it is built. Precisely because the picture of Scorsese would have won in any nomination, the organizers of the festival probably decided to remove the grandfather from victory.
In the absence of the "killers of the flower moon" among applicants, I would do this.
The prize for the best scenario must definitely be awarded to the Justein Triege Triye Tri -Dalia Tape (by the way, bought to Russia), taken with an eye on the Great Classic - the “Anatomy of the Murder” by Otto Preinerg. Using a deeply alien to France, the genre has been processed (a procedural drama is a serial, as a rule, a genre about any professional sphere.-Approx. “Cold”) -this is the sole patrimony of Hollywood-Triege argues on purely philosophical topics, the main of which can be formulated as follows: where the facts end and their interpretation begins? In fact, this is a conversation about the anatomy of art. “I always start from reality, and then destroy it with fiction,” says the main character, a popular writer, suspected of killing her husband. “The trajectory of the fall” is a kind of answer “Double Life” by Olivier Assayas, who also doubted the healing power of art.
With the jury prize (is considered the third most important award of the festival after the Golden Branch and the Grand Prix.-Note “Cold”) is the most difficult thing-but in this category I would probably have awarded Marco Belllocko and its stolen tape about anti-Semitism in Italy at the end of the 19th century and the nature of the faith. What does it mean for everyone - a set of symbols and dilapidated doctrines or a principle, following which not only allows you to survive, but also to save yourself? The “stolen”, despite the deceptive academic form, is full of fierce anticlitanism. In the confrontation of Catholicism and Judaism, the Belloccho weighs the hatred of the parties for a long time, so that the verdict is then pronounced - the true faith is full of souls, not trying to rule over them.
The best male role is definitely Jud Law, who played with great pleasure Henry VIII in a very mediocre historical drama “instigator”, removed from feminist positions, but at the same time the most caricatured by the medieval of the Middle Ages.
The best female role should go to Sandra Huller, who depicted the wife of the commandant Auschwitz in the “Interest zone” by Jonathan Glaise, too mannerly, but what is there, simply an outrageous film about the Holocaust, in which there were only banalities from the banality of evil. The “zone of interests” is a film adaptation of the novel of the festival of the festival of Martin Emis, the next test of the pen of which took to describe the Universe of Evil from the “interesting” angle. Glazer leaves the scenes of all the horrors of Shoa, immersing the viewer into a cozy routine of killers and jailers. Obviously, he carefully got acquainted with the work of Alexander Sokurov and Sergey Loznitsa, but it seems, he forgot to revise Claude Lancman. The notorious banality of evil is therefore banal that he does not realize himself with evil, for this reason it can be talked and cheerful, and Gleser's family of Rudolf Hess from the first frames is cursed and is burdened by the subsequent two hours, filled only with a butteroria that has only filled his indifference.
I give the prize for directing aki Kaurisma and his transfer to Jacques Perer to Finnish. “Fallen Leaves” is the only film of the competition in which the war in Ukraine is an integral part of the misfortune that fell on the heads of Europeans. Chekhovsky and Chaplinovsky motifs illuminated by the dim lights of the small city of Helsinki, this time in Kaurisma, they sound especially piercing. All of us - fallen leaves, whether the day will sweep away the day from the surface of the earth - the question left by Kaurisma unanswered.
The Grand Prix was deserved by the picture of Vim Wenders “Beautiful Days”, although personally, it caused me mixed feelings. The lyrical sketch of the everyday life of the Tokyo cleaner of the toilets, demonstrating to a Western person, torn by stupid ambitions and occupied by an even more stupid bustle, an example of humility, was taken masterfully. In the geometry of a latrine - public toilets in Tokyo look like a miracle of design - Wenders managed to see a metaphor for spiritual purity, the highest, so to speak, harmony. However, the sound row was pumped up: the main character’s daily trip from home to work was accompanied by compositions like “House of the Rising Sun” (seriously?) And “Just A Perfect Day” (Lord). It becomes obvious that Wenders in a protagonist sees himself, the aging hippie, who confused ethnography with philosophy and, most importantly, puffing off with narcissism.

As for the main award, then I personally have no doubt. From the age of 12, the Vietnamese director Chan An Hung, who has been living in France, without the slightest shadow of embarrassment, decided to sing love for the world and gratitude for his gifts - the most material - in the monumental picture “The Rag of Doden Buffan” about how important it is to be a gourmet both at the table and in bed. Benua Mamymel, who returned almost from the other world, plays a fictional brilliant culinary culinary culinary lace doden buffan, who was dug up in the Loire Castle and shifting his days behind the culinary works: discussing the dining menu, preparing it, and lubricating the result. “The Paradise of Doden Buffan” ironically rhymes with another competitive picture - “Zero Club” Jessica Hauser, who tried to study the new generation neurosis and forced their heroes to absorb their own vomiting. Ruben Estlund, who won last year with a “triangle of sadness”, a picture in which everyone was sick of all, as it seems to me, should make a life-affirming and, of course, witty choice in 2023. The body delayed after total existential poisoning desperately needs vitamins - oysters are rich in iodine, black caviar - protein, Burgundy wine - truth. At this alarming time, it is worth taking care, if not about the soul, then about the body.
Well, as a result, Zinaida Pronchenko did not guess a single jury decision, although most of the awards she did received the awards-just others. Here is a complete list of winners of the 76th Cannes Film Festival:
