Journalist Patrick West writes in Spiked about the decline of the veganism phenomenon and the forms of thinking that underlie many radical social movements in the West, including veganism:
“There are two reasons for this: growing inflation, which led to the fact that consumers were forced to abandon expensive products. Plant products usually cost more than meat or dairy, which they should replace. Another explanation is that vegana manufacturers overestimated the size of the market, and now they have to adapt to reality.
<...> Whatever the reasons, we must in every way greet the decline of the cult of veganism. Yes, I specifically use the word “ cult ”, because veganism very much resembles a holistic way of life, and not just some part of it. This is a faith that is similar to puritanism and conformism.
Vegans believe that you need to refuse to consume everything that is at least somehow connected with animals and insects-even if this does not imply murder or cause any harm. Any deviation from the dogma is considered a stupid excuse. Such a way of thinking is radical and absolute. In this regard, the best example of the vegan image of thought is the radical movement for the rights of animals, Peta ( people for ethical treatment of animals - Polit.ru ), whose participants are well known for their loud and show -enforcement narcissism. Their thought is simple - animals are much more people than we people.
It is not surprising that veganism received such a powerful development impulse in the mid-2010s at the peak of popularity of non-frying ( Woke ), the essence of which was in radical and extremist thinking and rivalry to be better and cleaner than the next generations of men and women. The movement of transgender people is an echo of this radicalization of thinking. Such radicalization requires the transformation of the human body. And this is true: causing themselves to be injuries and the pond of the flesh died for a long time practiced by religious fundamentalists. ”
