Immediately after the publication of the text of Galina Mursalieva in 2016, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation demanded that the local departments analyze all criminal cases initiated on the facts of children's suicides. Then, a criminal case was instituted in the GSU SK in St. Petersburg on the fact of bringing minors to the suicide of unidentified adolescence administrators on social networks. The first results of the investigation became known on November 15, 2016 from the message of the official representative of the Investigative Committee of Svetlana Petrenko: “The investigation has data that from December 2013 to May 2016, attackers created eight virtual communities on the VKontakte network, where they openly promoted suicides and inclined to perform minor users ... Currently, investigators conduct a series searches ... The administrators and participants of the “death groups” with pseudonyms Philip Lis, Philip the Sea, Miron Seth, the Keeper of Truth and others, are seized by electronic media and other materials relevant to the investigation, witnesses and victims are interrogated. ”

The searches took place in ten regions of Russia, but only 21-year-old Philip Budeikin, known under the nickname Philip Lis, was detained that day (by the court verdict, he left for the punishment and in April 2019 was released). And about him and other characters who appeared in the official message of the Investigative Committee, was described in the first publication of the “new” about “death groups”. The methodology of their communication with adolescents was identical, they clearly acted according to one scheme. But why was Budeikin detained and convicted, and the rest remained only in the status of witnesses? There is an answer to this question.

During the investigation, 15 episodes of the death of children from different cities of Russia related to the activities of “death groups” were revealed. In an interview with Novaya, Anton Braido, the head of the department of the 1st department for the investigation of the Particularly important cases of the Main Directorate of the IC of the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg, the head of the investigative group, which investigated the first criminal case to bring to suicide on the social network: “We are talking about 15 children who have died, committed suicides. We sent instructions and went to different regions of Russia, conducted interrogations, checked all the connections of the adolescents who passed away. They watched their computers, versed in everything. We checked everything that was possible, <...> But the problem is that they unquestioningly obeyed the administrators, and they demanded that the children destroy everything before the commission of suicide ... And we need specifics to establish a causal relationship. ”

Before his arrest, Philip Budeikin (aka Philip Lis) in an interview with Saint-petersburg.ru stated that he personally brought 17 teenagers to suicide. This interview was published shortly after the scandal, which broke out due to publication in the "New". In it, Budeikin explained his motives: the children died because he considered them a “biomusor”. However, the investigation managed to prove Budeikin’s guilt only in two episodes - and even because the injured children survived. The rest - left, leaving the cleaned pages in social networks and any traces leading to closed chats in which they communicated with the administrators.

It can be assumed that other defendants managed to evade responsibility: they brought their terrible work to the end. There were no survivors, and there was no one to testify.
