The Russian Ministry of Defense proposed to notify those mobilized about conscription via SMS

The Russian Ministry of Defense proposed that citizens of the Russian Federation drafted into the army for mobilization receive appropriate notifications via SMS. This is stated in the draft resolution published on the portal of draft regulatory legal acts.

In the regulation on the call of citizens for mobilization, in particular, it is proposed to prescribe that the notice of the summons from the military registration and enlistment office must be placed in the personal account of the public services portal, in the personal account of the taxpayer, and also send SMS to the phone number indicated on the public services portal.

The explanatory note to the draft resolution says that such changes will reduce the time for notifying citizens on mobilization.

• Mobilization in Russia began at the end of September 2022 and, according to the Russian authorities, ended at the end of October. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin has not yet signed a decree on its completion. In January, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that some of the decree's provisions were still in effect because the mobilization "includes [includes] other measures as well."
