Lawyer Timur Idalov was left in pre-trial detention until September

The Presnensky Court of Moscow extended until September 12 the arrest of lawyer Timur Idalov on charges of threatening a prosecutor (Part 1, Article 318 of the Criminal Code). It is reported by SOTAvision.

Idalov made a speech and asked to be released on bail in the amount of one million rubles or on bail, referring to the fact that he had a lot of cases in the courts and many trustees who needed him.

The prosecutor asked to take into account the previous conviction of the accused and a negative reference from the pre-trial detention center. The defense side asked to attach the guarantee of the senator of the federal assembly to the case and drew attention to the fact that the phrase, because of which the man is accused of threatening violence against the accuser, was part of a dialogue where the prosecutor called the lawyer a clown.

The reason for initiating the case was the phrase said to the prosecutor during the trial in the Nikulinsky District Court of Moscow on October 3: “What are you, Commissioner Cattani? So they shot him." Idalov himself notes that this phrase is said on emotions and is by no means a threat. He is convinced that the case against him is an attempt by the security forces to take revenge for his professional activities.

Journalists suggest that the case against the lawyer could have been initiated due to the fact that Idalov compiled a protocol for interviewing the ex-commander of Wagner PMC Andrei Medvedev: the latter told The Insider about cases of extrajudicial executions by PMC fighters.

On April 12, Idalov's house was searched. The next day he was arrested for two months.

In 2018, he was arrested for 12 days under the article on driving without a license (part 2 of article 12.7 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). This happened before the court session - then the lawyer represented the interests of the accused in the case of preparing a terrorist act. According to Idalov, it was not him who was driving, but his personal driver.
