30 people died in Russian regions from poisoning with surrogate alcohol “Mr. Cider”

In two days, 20 residents of the Ulyanovsk region died from poisoning with surrogate alcohol brand “Mr. Cider,” according to a press release from the regional Ministry of Health.

The Mister Cider drink was produced in the village of Vintai, Samara Region, and sold in the regions for bottling. A case was opened regarding improper provision of services resulting in the death of two or more people (Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code). A court in Samara sent alcoholic beverage producer Anar Guseinov to a pre-trial detention center; he faces up to 10 years in prison.
