In Ulyanovsk, an entrepreneur was arrested in the case of the death of residents of the Volga region due to poisoning with the drink “Mister Cider”

The Leninsky District Court of Ulyanovsk arrested Samara businessman Anar Guseinov in the case of the death of residents of the Volga region after poisoning with the alcoholic drink “Mister Cider”. This was reported by TASS and RIA Novosti .

Huseynov, the founder of the Andi company, which supplied alcohol, is charged under the article on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements (Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code). A TASS correspondent reported from the courtroom that the businessman did not admit guilt.

The agency noted that Huseynov had already been brought to administrative responsibility for selling cider without the necessary documents. TASS adds that another suspect was detained in Ulyanovsk, who was involved in the supply of the Mister Cider drink.

As previously reported by the Ministry of Health of the Ulyanovsk region, the number of deaths from poisoning in the Volga region has increased to 30 people. In the Ulyanovsk region itself - 20 dead and 31 injured. Another seven people died and 16 were injured in the Samara region, two people died and four were hospitalized in the Nizhny Novgorod region, one person died and one was injured in Udmurtia. Three residents of the Penza region were taken to the hospital; there were also victims in Chuvashia .

The first information about deaths in the Volga region due to alcohol consumption appeared on the evening of June 5. According to preliminary data , the cause was the drink “Mr. Cider”, which the victims bought at the “Territory Beer” and “Birrhouse” stores. Experts from the Ministry of Internal Affairs identified impurities of methanol and ethyl butyrate in its composition in proportions that pose a threat to health. Rospotrebnadzor reported that it had seized 37.6 thousand liters of Mister Cider from stores across Russia.
