The ECHR awarded Navalny 40 thousand euros

The European Court of Human Rights awarded compensation for 40 thousand euros to Russian opposition to Alexei Navalny for the actual refusal of Moscow to investigate his alleged poisoning. The money should be paid the money, it refuses to comply with such decisions.

Navalny was hospitalized on August 20, 2020 in a hospital in Omsk with symptoms of severe poisoning. He underwent treatment in the Berlin hospital, experts found that the politician could be poisoned by Russian -made poison. Supporters of Navalny accused the attempt of the FSB and the authorities of the country.

According to the decision of the ECHR, the authorities were obliged to conduct an investigation into what happened. The court ruled that the investigation did not study the allegations of the possible political motive of attempt, about the possible participation of state agents in it, and did not follow reports on the use of a substance identified as chemical weapons, despite the fact that its use violates not only international, but also Russian legislation.

In addition, even a formal audit conducted by the Russian authorities was not open and did not take into account the right of victim to participate in the proceedings.

According to previously taken international obligations, Russia is obliged to comply with the decision of the ECHR for cases adopted for consideration until September 16, 2022. Moscow refuses to do this. Russia denies its role in the alleged attempt on Navalny.
