The court in St. Petersburg sentenced to one and a half years the colony-settlement of student Viktor Melnikov in the case of the arson of the building in the city of Lomonosov. The room belongs to the Ministry of Defense. This was reported by the United press service of the city courts.
According to investigators, Melnikov late in the evening of September 21, with the help of Molotov cocktails, settled a room that is located in a building owned by the North-West Management of Property Relations of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The damage was estimated at 250 thousand rubles. On the building hung a sign "The Military Commissariat", but in fact the commissariat was not located there.
Melnikov’s defense asked him to appoint him a ban on certain actions, since he has a “grateful position in the case” and “taking into account the state of health”. The court refused.
The student was found guilty under the article on intentional damage to someone else's property from hooligan motives. In addition to the term in the colony, the court appointed Melnikov forced outpatient surveillance and treatment with a psychiatrist at the place of serving the sentence.
