By September, an Israeli system for alerting the civilian population about missile strikes will start working in Ukraine. This is reported by the Israeli edition of The Times of Israel, citing a Ukrainian official.

According to him, representatives of Ukraine and Israel have been working on the introduction of this system for several months. Another working meeting on this issue will be held this week in Poland.

The Israeli warning system will reportedly first cover most of Kyiv and then be deployed to other Ukrainian cities.

Technically, the system is only capable of identifying a threat and notifying about it, but not intercepting attacking missiles. The combination of radar and electro-optical devices allows it to detect incoming missiles and drones, classify them by size and perceived threat, and identify likely impact areas. After that, the automation turns on sirens in the indicated areas, and their residents receive notification of a missile attack via SMS, television and radio.
