The ex-chairman of the village Mejlis disappeared in Crimea

a 53-year-old Crimean Tatar, ex-chairman of the Mejlis Eldar Mensitov, of the Molodezhnoye village, disappeared in Crimea. It is reported by "Crimean solidarity".

The last time he was in touch with his wife at half past three on June 9, after which he did not return home. “I went to the police with a statement about the kidnapping. Now employees have come home,” said Elvira Mensitova.

Lawyer Safiye Shabanova added that later Mensitov's phone was turned off, since then nothing is known about him, except that a car similar to the car of a Crimean Tatar was seen near the shopping center.

In September 2021, Mensitov’s house was searched in connection with the case of sabotage on the gas pipeline near Perevalnoye. Then he was detained and taken to the FSB in Simferopol, but later released.

• The Supreme Court of Crimea recognized the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people as an extremist organization and decided to liquidate it on April 26, 2016.
