An activist from Tver, accused of preparing to set fire to a military registration and enlistment office, began a hunger strike in a pre-trial detention center; they don't give him vegan food, vitamins or books

Accused of preparing to set fire to a military registration and enlistment office, anti-war activist and author of street art “Fuck War” from Tver, Ivan Kudryashov, went on a hunger strike in a pre-trial detention center, reports the human rights project “Solidarity Zone”.

Kudryashov’s criminal case on preparation for a terrorist attack (Part 1 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code, Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code) is being considered by the 2nd Western District Military Court, the next hearing will take place on June 19. Kudryashov was detained by FSB officers on the night of October 1 not far from his house, covered his face with his own T-shirt, and was taken for a search. “(In my apartment - MZ) two bottles that did not belong to me, similar to Molotov cocktails, and two bottles with some kind of liquid were found,” said Kudryashov.

Kudryashov has been on a hunger strike for seven days, the Solidarity Zone clarifies, and drinks only water. He told lawyer Maxim Kharchenko that he felt weak and that he periodically began to have convulsions. Kudryashov refused to consume animal products for moral and ethical reasons, human rights activists specify. The accused is supported by the “Vegan Parcels” project, but the administration of pre-trial detention center-1 of the Tver region does not transfer parcels to him.

With the head of the pre-trial detention center, his namesake Alexei Kudryashov, according to the lawyer, the accused wanted to discuss the refusal to give him vegan food, vitamins, vegetable protein and kniki, as well as the prohibition of the pre-trial detention center employees from leaving the cell in shorts.

After his arrest, Kudryashov spoke about torture. According to him, after the search he was taken to an “unknown place” and, after being asked a question about Molotov cocktails, “they tied his legs with tape, laid him on the floor and sent electric current to open places.” Kudryashov claims that the security forces used sexualized violence against him: “they pulled down my pants, leaving me in a lying position, and, leaving me in my underpants, they began to shove an unknown object” into my anus. After this, the young man began to answer questions from the security forces and signed documents.

At the end of May, the 2nd Western District Military Court extended Kudryashov’s arrest for six months; he participated in the hearing via video link, writes Solidarity Zone. The accused objected to being kept in a pre-trial detention center and told Judge Albert Trishkin: “I am against continuing to sit,” to which he replied: “Well, continue to lie then.”
