Deputies in the second reading approved the introduction of arrests and fines for violating the martial law regime

The State Duma adopted amendments in the second reading that will introduce fines and administrative arrests of up to 30 days for violating the martial law regime.

The bill was originally introduced in 2019 and was not related to martial law, but in May, before the second reading, changes were made to the document.

It is expected that a new article 25.1.1 on violation of the martial law regime will be introduced into the Administrative Code. Under it, citizens will be able to be arrested for up to 30 days or fined up to 1,000 rubles. For officials, similar periods of arrest and fines of 1,000 to 2,000 rubles are provided.

In addition, if a report is drawn up against the person who was driving the car, the vehicle may be confiscated.

On October 19, 2022, Putin introduced martial law in the occupied territories of Ukraine - in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, the self-proclaimed LPR and DPR. The regime allows you to declare a curfew, search cars and confiscate property.

In March 2023, the State Duma also adopted in the first reading amendments that will give commanders of military units and heads of military police during the period of mobilization the right to apply disciplinary arrest to military personnel below the rank of officer. Now this requires a decision from a military court.
