In two weeks, nine senior officers of the Russian army died in the war. Two of them - during the raid of the “Russian Volunteer Corps” in the Belgorod region

Over the past two weeks, six Russian officers with the rank of lieutenant colonel and above have died in Ukraine. Three more senior officers were killed on Russian territory. The names of the dead were established according to open data by journalists from Mediazona and the BBC Russian Service, who, together with volunteers, keep track of Russian losses.

In total, by June 16, it was possible to establish the names of 251 dead officers of the Russian army in the rank of lieutenant colonel and above. Journalists compare the losses among senior officers of the Russian army over the past two weeks with those in the first month after the UAF received American HIMARS installations. Then the Ukrainians managed to hit several Russian headquarters with missiles of these systems.

At the same time, three of the nine dead were killed on Russian territory. According to Mediazona, in the Belgorod region during the last raid of the RDK, the commander of the regiment of mobilized men, the husband of the head of the city of Istra near Moscow, Vladimir Kuznetsov, died.

Another victim of the RDK raid in the Belgorod region was Colonel Andrey Stesev. He led the Belgorod task force, which was supposed to defend the region.

The third senior officer who died on Russian territory was Nikolai Bykov from the special detachment of SOBR "Kmet" in the Kursk region. As the newspaper writes, he was killed by saboteurs back in September 2022, but his name was only established now.

In addition, it was possible to confirm the death of the fifth Russian general since the beginning of the war. They became Major General, Chief of Staff of the 35th Combined Arms Army Sergei Goryachev. He commanded the reflection of the counterattack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye region, and died from a missile strike.

Since June 4, journalists and volunteers have managed to identify another 1,058 names of Russian servicemen who died in Ukraine. In total, there are 25,528 people on the list now.
