Another interlocutor of the newspaper, whose name the publication does not disclose, said that not only Cepeda suffered from harassment at the climate conference.

Following these complaints, representatives from some 20 countries participating in the conference urged the organizers to pay attention to "the way negotiators are treated" and to provide "a respectful and safe working space" at the conference. The corresponding letter to the UN was signed, in particular, by representatives of Mexico, the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Peru and Canada.

According to the FT, participants in the COP28 preparatory events, which take place in Bonn, Germany, also complained about harassment. According to the publication, several women from the Mexican delegation were harassed, who said that the men tried to "undermine their credibility."
