The FSB came to search the family of Crimean Tatars in the village of Yarkoye Pole. Two brothers, Jafer and Alim Alyustaev, were taken to the department’s headquarters in Simferopol, Crimean Solidarity reports.

According to the organization, FSB officers arrived at the family in three cars without license plates, after which they climbed over the fence, surrounded the house and conducted a search.

“We turned everything over, checked all the closets, basements, attic. They left no decisions. They confiscated mobile phones,” said relatives of Crimean Solidarity.

Context

• After the annexation of Crimea in 2014, Russia began to actively persecute the Crimean Tatars. According to the human rights project “Assistance to Political Prisoners. Memorial,” at the end of May, at least 333 people were being persecuted in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case, most of whom were Crimean Tatars.

• 264 of those involved have already been sentenced to prison terms, with 110 people sentenced to terms of 15 years or more. At least 27 more of them are wanted, and 41 are under investigation. Charges were dropped against only one person involved in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case.
