Before the war, the Russian car market was one of the most attractive in Europe - 60 different brands were presented on it, but by the end of 2022 only 14: three Russian and 11 Chinese remained legally. The outcome of foreign manufacturers led to an unprecedented increase in prices and the record collapse of the car market-even AvtoVAZ had to go on unforeseen leave due to a shortage of foreign details. Competition and assortment fell so much that now the vaunted Muscovite can be bought at the price of a new Ford pickup, and if you pay a little, even at the price of Chevrolet Camaro. "Cold" looked at the prices of Russian cars and tells what you can buy for this money in other countries.

According to the Avtostat analytical agency, the weighted average price (the average price is adjusted to the “weight” (market share) of the model. - Note of the “cold”) of the new car in 2022 increased by 20% - from 2 to 2.38 million rubles. In the first four months of 2023, this indicator reached 2.6 million rubles. Chinese brands that filled the market after the departure of competitors also rose: the weighted average prices for the most popular models, including the Haval Jolion and Chergo 4, also exceeded 2 million rubles.
The weighted average price
This is the average price, but taking into account the different weights of each indicator. If, when calculating the usual average, each of the values has the same weight, then in the case of the weighted average this weight depends on the importance of indicators. The weighted average price of cars was considered depending on the market share: the higher it was, the higher the weight during price calculations.
At the same time, 2022 was marked by the strongest fall in the car market for at least the last 20 years. The Association of the European Business in D believed that in comparison with the pre -war 2021, the sales of new cars decreased by almost 2.5 times: from 1.66 million to 687 thousand pieces.
The top of the most popular cars in 2022 was headed by Lada: Granta, Niva and Vesta. The top ten also included Kia Rio, Hyundai Solaris, Haval Jolion, Hyundai Creta, Lada Largus VP, Renault Duster and Geely Coolray. At the same time, the total sales of the first triples were almost one and a half times higher than the sales of the remaining seven cars. According to Cold estimates, the TOP-5 of the most popular cars among Russians for 2022 increased in price by 25-50% of the pre-war minimum price.
The minimum price of LADA Granta increased by a quarter: from 560 to 692 thousand rubles. For this money, the future owner will receive a standard 1.6 -liter engine, adjustable steering wheel, electric windows only on the front doors and the steering wheel power power steering - airbags in this configuration, as well as the air conditioner.

The external design of Lada Niva, which did not change since 1977, also rose by a quarter, from 660 to 822 thousand rubles. The three -door basic version includes the same windows of the front doors, fasteners for children's seats, “audio training” (a hole for the radio) and steel discs. Fullly working airbags for 46 years in Niva did not appear . The most advanced Lada Vesta model has risen in price over a year and a half times: from 796 thousand to 1.24 million rubles. For this money, you can get the front airbags, electric windows, windows and even air conditioning - however, you won’t be able to listen to the music again: the equipment involves only the presence of “audio training” .
The pre -war leaders of the Russian market Kia Rio and Hyundai Solaris raised in price by about 50%. The cheapest Rio model can be bought for 1.56 million rubles. This is more than one and a half times more expensive than at the end of 2021, when the price of the model in the basic configuration began at 985 thousand rubles. True, judging by the official site, only 11 cars from official supplies (including in the annexed Crimea) remained in the country. Unlike LADA products, the basic RIO is with an automatic gearbox, an audio system, an anti -lock brake system (ABS), front airbags, etc.
There are no more new Hyundai Solaris in Russia - the official site offers to buy cars in the secondary market. The price for a car not older than one year with the smallest mileage starts at 1.44 million rubles, for this money you can get a steering wheel, front airbags, air conditioning, a multimedia system and an automatic gearbox. The former use car costs almost one and a half times more than a new car at the end of 2021: then the minimum price was 970 thousand rubles.
The increase in prices for auto inside Russia is directly caused by deficiency and supply problems. For comparison: in “friendly” China, the minimum price for Kia Rio is 66.9 thousand yuan, it is about 784 thousand rubles. True, in the Chinese market, on the contrary, an excess of offers, which forces manufacturers to reduce the cost as a result of “price wars”. Due to the confrontation between the Hyundai Solaris auto-specifics, even less than 700 thousand rubles were recently in the basic configuration.
In Estonia, Kia Rio is available from 1.4 million rubles, and Kia Ced - from 1.7 million. In Kazakhstan, the price of KIA CEED starts at 1.9 million rubles, and for Kia Cerato - from 2 million. It is impossible to purchase RIO in Kazakhstan right now: the model is not available for purchase on the official website of the Korean concern, but at the beginning of 2022, Rio cost 1.12 million rubles.
The once popular Volkswagen Polo in China in the Russian market (though there is its own version of the local market) can be bought for 1.1 million rubles. The minimum price for the Volkswagen Polo sedan in Kazakhstan is 1.7 million rubles. Its direct competitor and twice in the German concern - Skoda Rapid - in China costs from 1.2 million rubles. Renault, which was part of the same company with LADA, sells its “budget employees” Sandero Stepway and Logan Stepway from 1.58 million rubles in Kazakhstan.
The first Moskvich model, the Moskvich 3 car, was released only by the end of 2022. Recently, the manufacturer announced that by early June almost 2.5 thousand cars were sold in Russia. And according to the results of the last week of May, Moskvich even managed to enter the ten best -selling brands. “Moskvich 3” is a “Moskvich 3” Chinese front -wheel drive crossover of the JAC JS4 in Russia.
The car is difficult to call budget: the starting price starts at 1.97 million rubles (23.3 thousand dollars at the current rate ) and can reach 2.25 million for a more comfortable complete set. For comparison: the basic equipment of the JAC JS4 in Russia with T SIT 1.75 million rubles, and in China almost half the cheaper - about a million rubles.

The “basic” “Moskvich 3” will cost Russians more than the Americans, the Ford Maverick hybrid pickup, the cost of which starts at 22.6 thousand dollars, and the American Chevrolet Trax crossover, the basic price of which starts at 20.4 thousand dollars. A little more expensive than Moskvich 3 (26.1 thousand dollars), a sports Chevrolet Camaro or family Chevrolet Malibu will cost.
In the European market, for about the same price (23.9 thousand dollars) in the Czech Republic you can purchase a new Skoda Octavia , and if you want an analogue of Moskvich 3, then the Skoda Kamiq crossover for $ 22 thousand.
